THE QUESTION

Did those echoes amount to a pattern?

For much of his working life, Gottlieb C. Venter weighed information and made decisions. Looking back at his own life, however, offered no such clarity.

Across four countries, through ambition and migration, loss and estrangement, prayer and improbable convergence, events separated by years began to echo one another.

Was it providence? Meaning constructed from chance? The mind's instinct to find order? Or something that had been there all along?

Moving between lived story and reflection, memory and faith, The Pattern asks what may hold a life together when certainty runs out. Rather than offering an easy conclusion, it invites readers to look again at the events of their own lives and ask: Is meaning something we create, or something waiting to be recognised?

LOOKING FORWARD

Recognition is not the end of the journey.

The Pattern does not only look backwards.

As the story develops, the question changes. If a pattern can be recognised in what has already been lived, what does that recognition mean for the life still ahead — and ultimately for what remains?

An earlier subtitle for the book was One Life, One Search, and the Journey into What Remains. Although the title changed, that journey remains at the heart of the book.

Reviews and Endorsements

“The Pattern is more than a journey through words. It is an invitation into deeper awareness, purpose, and a recognition of the unseen threads woven through every life — including your own.

In many ways, it is a book that finds you.”
